About the role:
FARAD is looking for a motivated, high energy, well-organized, collaborative engineer to support our business activities and provide design engineering support for FARAD’s R&D department. It will be your responsibility to translate ideas into product designs and drive products’ innovation.
Responsibilities:
NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. The essentials of the position include, but are not limited to, the following duties:
▪ Initiate and develop comprehensive “Energy Transition Technologies” insights, to support senior leadership in making business decisions related to the company's strategy, technology and R&D activities, and aligning those activities with business priorities.
▪ Support the proposal process from opportunity to handoff to the Sales team in key RFQs.
▪ Contribute to several heat transfer focused projects and assist in key heat exchanger technology initiatives.
▪ Lead product development on several development projects, working as member of the R&D department team.
▪ Evaluate the design and performance of the newly developed equipment; ensure deliverability and reliability of suppliers to meet specifications and timetable.
▪ Expand professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional and scientific publications and expanding personal networks with potential clients, vendors and internal teams.
▪ Provide support to design teams to ensure proper application of new heat transfer technologies with an end-goal to introduce these technologies to manufacturing operations.
▪ Assist in the commercialization of the newly developed company products.
▪ Plan and coordinate the manufacturing of engineered samples and pilot runs if needed.
▪ Support pre-sales activities as needed.
▪ Generate written technical proposals, summary reports and standard work instructions.
▪ Work with technical department and other departments personnel to implement the most promising opportunities.
▪ Conduct presentations for engineering, technical department, and business personnel.
Requirements:
1. A degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred but consideration will be given to other engineering degrees (i.e Mechanical Engineering) based on actual relevant experience.
2. Ability to demonstrate at least three years of experience as R&D or product development engineer in the development of process equipment products, or as a process development engineer for project transfers from R&D phase to manufacturing phase.
3. Mastery skill level in process simulations is a necessary requirement for the position.
4. Strong desire to develop new products or improve existing ones while working on the boundaries of several engineering and scientific disciplines.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a detail-oriented and innovative thinking mindset.
6. Excellent troubleshooter using a sound professional judgment, creativity, innovation, experience, resources, initiative, and tools to analyze and correct issues in an efficient and expedited manner.
7. Excellent and proven technical writing skills.
8. Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
9. Excellent technical communication (inside and outside the company) and presentation skills, both written and oral.
10. Fluency in written and spoken English.
11. Ability to work diligently and efficiently under pressure, independently and with limited supervision or guidance.
12. Strong work ethics and ambition to grow with company.
13. Ability to maintain confidentiality of pertinent information.
14. Position may require some travel.
Nice to have:
1. Subject Matter Expert knowledge for heat transfer technologies for Carbon Capture & Storage and Hydrogen applications.
2. Experience working with cryogenic and refrigeration equipment.
3. PhD or research experience in a related subject and in close cooperation with industrial sector.
4. General knowledge about standards and codes used within the hydrogen industry.
5. Participation in the design of, or experimentation with, prototype process equipment.
6. Basic understanding of project management fundamentals.
7. Experience with ASPEN EDR or/and HTRI software.
8. Experience with CAD/CAE (FEM, CFD) software.
