Our Consumer Apps team is looking for a new Senior Android Engineer to join their team and make an impact for our mobile users. You will produce clean, maintainable, testable, dynamic and scalable code, and actively contribute to code reviews. You are also a doer, with a “get-things-done” attitude!

What you 'll do:

• Be involved in a variety of projects to extend and enhance our Android app.
• Spread Data Engineering best practices. In other words, improve and manage standards for code maintainability and performance in code submitted and reviewed.
• Hold end to end responsibility for the app's lifecycle, from managing the pre-release (designing, development etc.) and the post-release activities.
• Highly participate in team’s code reviews by giving valuable feedback and proposing optimisations.
• Work with our Design and Analytics team to create pixel perfect, usable and data driven apps.
• Track down and resolve issues.
• Implement the DataOps philosophy in everything you do.
• Research on latest Android related technologies and development of best approaches to incorporate in our app.

What you’ll need:

• University and/or Postgraduate Degree in a relevant field.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in Android development.
• Excellent knowledge of Android framework.
• Excellent knowledge of Kotlin and Java.
• Experience with one or more of the following: MVP, MVVM, Clean architecture, Unit testing.
• Excellent problem-solving and learning ability.
• Excellent eye for detail and a self-motivated problem solver.
• Superior analytical skills and a strong sense of urgency and ownership in your work.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to ship apps throughout their lifecycle.
• Experience in modern, distributed version control (we use Git and accompanying flows).

 

Nice to have:

• Experience with the following: Retrofit, RxKotlin, EventBus, Dagger 2.
• Experience with Test Driven Development.
• Familiarity with integration/functional/UI Automation testing.
• Analytic tool experience and data driven culture.
• Experience with tracking tools (Firebase, Google tag manager, etc).
