Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Pressure Vessels)

Company: Technipetrol Hellas S.A. (member of TechnipFMC group)

Location: Athens - Greece

Job purpose:

Leads and takes the ownership of specific tasks in a project:

- Technical responsibility of Material Requisitions for static equipment (pressure  vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.).

- Performing Design Calculations for above mentioned static equipment,

- Coordination with other disciplines,

- Reviewing Vendor documents.

Reporting lines and interactions:

Hierarchically reports to: Mechanical Dept. Coordinator

Operationally reports to: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Directly supervises (operationally):  N/A

Key interactions (internally, externally): 

Internally: Other discipline engineers, Project Engineers.

Externally: Vendors for the items procured, subcontractors (on rare occasions).

Job scope (= role dimension, specific criteria): 



  • Engineering Degree or Diploma (4 or 5 years degree, GPA>7).
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in design and execution of projects in onshore or offshore oil and gas facilities.
  •  Able to perform calculations with, and experience in using software such as PVElite or COMPRESS for Pressure Vessels and TANK for Atmospheric Tanks design.
  •  Experience in design of various types of static equipment such as but not limited to pressure vessels, heat exchangers and tanks.
  •  Working knowledge of international technical standards and codes of practice such as ASME (BPVC), ASTM, API, EN ,TEMA etc.
  •  Able to develop/modify technical specifications, equipment data sheets.
  •  Knowledge of welding procedures and materials.
  •  Knowledge of Design / Drafting software (AUTOCAD etc.).
  •  Able to work in a team environment and handle multiple project responsibilities.
  •  Work well independently.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels within the organization.
  • Able to analyze and solve problems.
  • Able to make decisions.
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Willing to work on a national and international environment.
  • Fluent in Greek (written and spoken).
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Main accountabilities

  • Prepare technical specifications for static equipment (pressure vessels, atmospheric storage tanks, heat exchangers, columns, etc).
  • Perform engineering calculations for dimensioning and design of the above-mentioned equipment.
  • Prepare equipment mechanical data sheets.
  • Coordinate work with other engineering disciplines.
  • Prepare equipment requisitions for inquiry.
  • Perform technical evaluation of Vendors’ offers, technical bid tabulation and technical report.
  • Prepare equipment requisitions for purchase.
  • Perform vendor’s documents and drawings review.
  • Ensure contractual technical specifications are met.
  • Coordination with other disciplines to define nozzles orientations, supports, internals, trays of columns and interfaces with pipes, electricity, instrumentation, civil, etc.
  • Adhere to the committed man/hours, budget and quality.
  • Ensure timely internal and external reporting on engineering / requisitioning activities to the group leader.
